Overview

Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake features exhibitions about the Adirondacks in 24 modern galleries and historic buildings. You can explore topics ranging from logging to boating as well as enjoy hands-on activities.

One of America's finest outdoor museums and called "the best of its kind in the world" by the New York Times, Adirondack Experience (formerly the Adirondack Museum) is a must-visit attraction in the Adirondack Park.

What Is Adirondack Experience?

Since 1957, the museum's mission has been to share the history of the Adirondack Park. 

Located on Blue Mountain Lake, Adirondack Experience offers more than 40,000 square feet of fascinating exhibitions. There are over 30,000 objects, 70,000 photographs, 9,511 books, and 800 pages of original manuscipt materials housed at the museum today.

With hands-on traditional workshops, interactive exhibits, special events like the Rustic Furniture Fair and Cabin Fever Sunday lectures, the Lake View Cafe, the museum store, and so much more, a day at Adirondack Experience promises an experience unlike any other.

Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (including holidays) from late May to early-October.

Museum Services

Lake View Cafe - The Lake View Café is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers a full menu prepared by Well Dressed Food of hot and cold dishes, snacks, and beverages, including beer and wine.

Accessibility - We make every effort to ensure that all visitors have a satisfying visit. Wheelchairs, wheeled walkers, strollers, hearing assist devices (auditorium only), wagons, and transcripts are available; electric scooters are available for rent.

Picnic Areas - For those who wish to bring lunch, picnic areas are available. Individual picnic tables, trash receptacles, and recycling centers are scattered throughout the scenic grounds.

Wi-Fi - Free Wi-Fi service is available in most areas throughout the campus during our open season.
